No sugar, no glasses!

Sugar causes all sorts of damage to our bodies.  Of course I knew the health risks of a high sugar diet, but information does not stop bingeing – although it can increase the guilty feelings!  I was absolutely astounded to find out one healthy benefit to giving up sugar.  When I went into recovery from binge eating disorder I gave up my binge foods and then reduced my entire sugar intake down to 0%. I’m not suggesting that you do this since each individual person needs to be assessed by a professional. Of course there were all the positive benefits you would expect, but there was one benefit I never imagined!

I had worn glasses for the previous twelve years.  This didn’t surprise me as my parents worn glasses and so did my brother.  Having given up the sugar for over a year, I had my eyesight tested to see if I needed stronger lenses.  I was absolutely amazed when the optician confirmed that I had perfect eyesight and that I no longer needed to wear glasses. I really couldn’t believe it.  We discussed the fact that I was in recovery from binge eating disorder and had cut out all the sugar from my food plan………. there was the answer.  I really couldn’t believe how sugar had affected my eyesight.  I even had a second test to confirm that the optician hadn’t made a mistake!  Now I know of several people who have found the same effect sugar had on their eye sight.

Of course don’t quit sugar to get rid of your glasses as it may not work for you. But look at it as one of the positive benefits you may find if you cut out sugar.

If you want help to stop bingeing I would be delighted to work with you through online counselling.
