Having fun in your life
Has your life become unbalanced with too much work and not enough fun? Do you spend your time wishing that you had more of a social life, more relaxation time and a little less work? Maybe it is time to look at the real reason why you dont have fun.
Some people simply dont make the effort to schedule some fun activities into their diary, while others constantly tell themselves that they do not deserve to have fun. | |
If you fall into the latter category then it is important to look at the reason why you have such negative self talk and work through this issue. You may want help through online counselling. Other people are so consumed by medical problems like eating disorders that they have little time left to actually enjoy life.
There are so many different ways to have fun, so why not begin by brainstorming all the different fun things you would love to do. Write every possible idea you have, whether or not you believe you could ever do these activities. You might want to think about all the things you used to do as a child, as children naturally know how to have fun.

| Book some time to have fun with your family, your spouse and your friends. It doesnt have to cost the earth; invite a friend over for a coffee and a chat. Go out on a family walk or bike ride. Why not have a date night with your spouse; book tickets to a concert or theatre show, meet friends at a restaurant or attend dancing lessons together. Maybe you would like to have a romantic weekend away. |
Recovery has led me to find so many different kinds of fun. Ive been free flying in an air simulator that recreates jumping out of an aeroplane, been on theme park rides that previously I would have never even considered doing, taken up painting classes and started ballroom dancing lessons. That is to name but a few things.

Life is for living and we only get one chance at it. I love to remind myself that life is not a dress rehearsal. Never turn down opportunities as you really dont know where it will lead you to. One day I arranged to meet someone for coffee
.. I had no idea that it would be the start of me writing a book! Often these life changing decisions come from an event that could so easily have been missed.

Life was so beautifully summed up when my father wrote How quickly life flows and when you are younger you just cannot understand just how short it really is. When you are in my situation (he was dying of cancer) the realization finally dawns upon one, but then it is too late.
