Exercise Phobic

At school there always seems to be a big divide between the children who love exercise and those who hate it.  As the years progress and you become an adult, less and less people find the time to exercise.

Of course there are those of us who are totally exercise phobic and will find every conceivable excuse under the sun to avoid it at all perils!  But if you look deep inside you will often find that the excuses simply hide a fear.  The fears seem real enough but when you face them head on, many of the reasons no longer exist!

Until you explore what it is that you actually don’t like, you will never find a way to incorporate this healthy activity into your life. Perhaps you hate the idea of getting sweaty, or maybe the changing room scenario scares the life out of you. But exercise doesn’t mean sweating it out in the gym for several hours a week.

We can all increase our activity in our lives to promote positive health. Simple permanent changes can be far more beneficial to our overall health, than a couple of weeks of exercise that you will never do again until you undertake your next fitness campaign. Make simple changes one step at a time. That is all it takes.

Fun exercise

You could decide to walk to the shops instead of driving, or take the stairs instead of the lift. Maybe you could help your spouse in the garden or spring clean the house.  These are all positive forms of exercise.  Walking doesn’t cost anything and we can all find a few minutes to boost our happy hormones.

Have you ever thought of raising money through exercise? There are many sponsored events that raise money for charity. Whether you fancy walking through the streets of London in your bra raising money for breast cancer or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro you will be helping people who are suffering with ill health.  These sort of activities are a win win for everyone involved.

So stop making excuses and start looking after your body.  A healthy body is what so many people dream of.  We take our bodies for granted but when you can’t walk you wish you had made the most of your legs when you could. It’s never too late to start increasing your daily activity levels.
